Year 9 serves as a pivotal bridge between Key Stage 3 and the demands of GCSE study. In this crucial year, we focus on consolidating the knowledge gained in Years 7 and 8 through contextualised units.
Rather than separating the subjects, we combine Biology, Chemistry, and Physics concepts to demonstrate how they interact in the real world. This integrated approach ensures students build a robust scientific foundation whilst allowing them to:
-
Apply their theoretical knowledge to complex, real-life scenarios.
-
Strengthen their understanding of how the three sciences connect.
-
Master the essential skills required for higher-level study.
To ensure our students have ample time to cover the extensive curriculum and achieve their full potential, they start their GCSE in Science after the Easter break. Students who demonstrate the aptitude to succeed in Separate Sciences at GCSE will be guided toward this pathway during the KS4 Options process.
