Year 6 to 7

Moving from primary to secondary school is an exciting milestone, and at Parkside School, we are here to support every student and their family through this journey. This page contains all the key information you need to help make the transition to Year 7 as smooth and successful as possible.

At Parkside, we recognise that the move from primary to secondary school can feel like a big step. That’s why we have developed a thoughtful and structured transition programme designed to ease the process for students, parents, and carers. We work closely with our feeder primary schools to ensure that all students feel confident, well-prepared, and excited about their next chapter.

Our transition programme includes

Open Evening

Our Open Day gives families the opportunity to explore our school, discover our exceptional facilities, and speak with our staff and current students. This is a great way to get a feel for what life at Parkside will be like.

Transition Evening

For parents and carers, our Transition Evening provides important information about what to expect in Year 7. It’s a chance to meet key staff, ask questions, and get the support you need to prepare for the next steps.

Transition Day

We invite students from Year 6 to visit Parkside in the summer term so that they can experience a day in the life of a secondary school student, take part in engaging lessons, and meet our friendly staff and students. These visits help students feel familiar and comfortable with their new school environment ahead of them joining our school community. For students who require further familarisation, such as young people with a special educational need, our SEND team run enhanced visits.
