Year visit to Solenis
A group of year 8 students visited Solenis yesterday. We now have an established relationship so we will be seeing more of them in school as well as hopefully, out.
The students learnt about the variety of roles within the company, career pathways, apprenticeship opportunities and how to access them in the future. They listened to employees explain the processes required to create new chemicals to make clean water and exactly what happens to our 'waste' to break it down. They were quite interested in that element 🙂
Due to the weather situation and the risk of slipping on a tour of the facilities, the students experienced a VR insight into the safety engineer's area instead, saw the data being monitored to ensure a safe environment and 'explored' the local area of the site. They then toured the site in the warm and dry minibus. Well navigated Dawn 👍
Holly M, our year 13 leaver from last year's cohort is employed as an apprentice there but was unfortunately late back from delivering a session with students in another school! We will see her soon doing the same thing with us 🙂
The students represented the school really well, even though it was cold and wet!
