In fact, it’s the biggest employment sector in the UK and includes elements of the NHS, local authority adult and child care services, and a range of independent providers that provide care in a range of settings.

Cambridge Technicals are created for students aged 16+ in either school or Further Education. They are a high-quality alternative to A Levels, qualifications that are fit for purpose being accessible for student’s needs and right for their chosen destination.

What can parents do to help?

 We want you to be able to encourage your children to:

  • Create a study space at home to maximize productivity
  • Take effective notes in lessons and while researching to enable them to reach their highest potential grade
  • Manage their time effectively to avoid cramming, stress and unmanageable workload
  • Avoid distractions such as social media, other electronic devices or socializing when work is the focus
  • Ask for help if they need it. Teachers, career advisors and pastoral staff are here to help

Where can this subject take you? Career opportunities

The Health & Social Care Certificate at a Merit 2 (M2) or better, it is a good stepping stone for the very successful Health & Social Care Cambridge Technical and BTEC Applied Science courses at Parkside. The skills and knowledge gained is important in careers that involve working with and caring for people of all ages for example nursing, midwifery, radiography, physiotherapy, dietetics, speech therapy, early years teaching, nursery management, youth work, social work to name but a few. It is useful for those wishing to go into level 2 or 3 apprenticeships in health, social care or early year’s sector.
