Each year we enter a number of our pupils into the UK’s biggest maths competition, which has hundreds of thousands of entries nationwide. The challenges are at three levels:
The challenges are a test of reasoning and logic and can be sat without preparation or revision. We think they are a brilliant way of getting pupils to think around maths in often unusual contexts, in ways that may not appear in their classroom maths.
If pupils are successful, they may be awarded a bronze, silver or gold certificate and the highest score in each competition is also awarded a best in school certificate!
There are follow on competitions for very high scoring pupils, which are entered by pupils from across Europe.

Well done to all those pupils who took part, especially to those who gained a certificate. A special mention for Edmond Williams and Thomas Rycroft who succeeded in getting through to the European round and in which Edmond gained a Merit, the first in the history of Parkside School. Congratulations Edmond!
