Human Biology
Course Description
The OCR Human Biology course is ideal for those wishing to pursue careers in Nursing or Public Services and is complementary to other courses such as Health and Social Care.
The aim of the course is to develop your interest in and enthusiasm for human biology, including developing an interest in further study and careers in biology, such as lab technician and clinical trials.
It will give you an appreciation of how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society.
The course would aim to develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of human biology and how they relate to each other.
Course Content

AS consists of two written papers (30% and 50% respectively) and 20% coursework

A2 consists of two written papers (15% and 25% respectively) and 10% coursewo

Controlling the Spread of Infectious Disease
Athletic Performance
Counselling Individuals on Genetic Issues
Managing Type 1 and 2 Diabetes
The Effects of Ageing on the Reproductive and Other Body Systems

General Comments
OCR National pass or above
C or above in Biology in Single Award Science at GCSE
CC or above in Double or Applied Science at GCSE
