Course Description
These two courses have been developed to recognise candidates’ skills, knowledge and understanding of health, social and early years sectors and the settings, job roles, principles and values involved.

They accredit candidates abilities to carry out a range of tasks and have been designed to recognise candidates achivements in a modern practical way which is relevant to the work place.

The OCR level 3 National Certificate is a six unit qualification equivalent to one full A level. Candidates must complete four mandatory untis and two optional units from a bank of 23.

The OCR level 3 National Diploma is a twelve unit qualification equivalent to two full A levels. Candidates must complete four mandatory units and eight optional units from a bank of 23.

Course Content
Mandatory Units

Unit 1 Working to quality practice in care settings
Unit 2 Working with service users in care settings
Unit 3 Behavioural awareness in care
Unit 4 Applied practical care in settings

These are centre-assessed qualifications and are externally moderated by an OCR visiting moderator. Parkside is one of a few centres approved to offer these qualifications at the current time

General Comments
These qualifications are designed to offer candidates the opportunity to develop skills, knowledge and understanding that will prepare them for entry into employment at trainee level within a wide range of health, social care and early years care and education environments.

Candidates who achieve these qualifications will be prepared to enter a variety of HND or degree level courses in health, social care and early years care-related subjects.
These qualifications allow candidates to accumulate full UCAS points eq uivalent to 120 for a 6 unit award (Certificate) and 240 for a 12 unit award (Diploma)
