Chemistry
Course Description
Chemistry: As far as your imagination can take you!
The specification for the chemistry course is derived from the exsisting AQA/NEAB modula and end of course GCSE chemistry syllabuses and provides a logical sequence of topics progressing from GCSE through AS to A Level and beyond. Technological applications and social, economic and environmental implications pervade the specification and have been taken into account in the subject content. Practical work is seen as integral to the teaching of the theory and canditates should carry out practical work within each of the six modules. Canditates' practical skills are assessed through coursework, second marked by teachers and moderated by the AQA. The course adopts a traditional, academic and practical teaching approach. The six modules covered have excellent support materials helping students focus on the main areas. The modular appraoch allows progress to be monitored accurately and are tangible steps to an A level grade.
Chemistry will give you an opportunity to find out what things are made up of and how they interact and the role they play in our lives.
It covers many areas and opens up a lot of diverse careers.
