Applied Sciences - Chemistry and Physics
Course Description
A new suite of courses for 2008; Applied Biology, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics and Applied Science. This will be a BTEC National consisting of four specialist units per subject and 2 core units.
These courses are designed to provide you with specialist work related qualifications in a range of areas. It will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enter employment in science related careers. Topics include Medical Physics, Physiology of the Human Body, Genetics, and Practial Chemical Analysis.

The BTEC National Award is equivalent to one GCE, BTEC National Certificate is equivalent to 2 GCE’s and BTEC National Diploma is equivalent to 3 GCE’s.
All these qualifications attract UCAS points and are suitable for university entrance.
The courses are suitable for students with an interst in pursuing careers in Labatory and Industrial Science, Clinical Science, Forensic Science and Applied Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Course Content
General Comments
A natural progression for those students following the OCR National at GCSE and those who would prefer to follow less traditional pure science A levels.
CC or Pass and above required.

All courses are moderated externally and consist of 100% coursework including case studies, assignments and work based assignments.
