Vocational Business Language (Level 1 and 2) |
What will I study at Key stage 4?
The vocational business language course will make you competent in the language skills needed in the workplace e.g. welcoming a foreign visitor on the phone or in person, sending an email or letter of confirmation for a meeting or visit. This is a practical course where you can visit companies and practice your languages for real.

What assessments will I do?
- There is no final examination.
- The language you learn is more practical.
- You will compile a portfolio of evidence.
During the two year course you will complete assessments on the four skills of listening, reading, writing and speaking.
Why should I do Business Language?
- Many employers reward people with language skills with extra salary because they know they are useful in today’s international business world.
- You do not have to be fluent in a language; a little language can make a lot of difference in a business environment.
- As the language focuses on business, it helps people think and be prepared for the workplace.
“I enjoyed the visits to factories etc. It gave me an idea of the real world of work. When I leave school I plan on doing NVQ Level 3 Childcare so it gets me used to producing portfolio tasks.”
