Cross Country 2006/7

The season got off to a flying start in September when 50 Parkside students took part in the Schools Cross Country Challenge organised by Bingley Harriers.  Jennifer Bonson sprinted to a fine victory in the year 7/8 race, chased in all the way by Arianna Zenti in 2nd.  Imogen Talbot completed the team in 31st to give us 4th team place overall.

Our 9/10 students achieved 5th place with Jessica Mayho in 7th, Heather Littler in 18th and Francesca McArthur in 22nd place.

The English Schools Cup in October was our next competition and our Junior Girls finished in a fine 5th place.  Arianna led the team home in 4th, followed by Jennifer in 17th, Rebecca Robertshaw 29th, Bethany Lavery 34th, Annie Roberts 37th and Imogen Talbot 41st.

Our Intermediate girls finished in 6th team place.

The Bradford Schools Cross Country Relays was our next challenge.  Our girls ran magnificently and achieved 2nd, 5th and 8th teams, with Arianna and Jenny running the 2nd and 4th fastest legs respectively, on the day.

The Bradford Schools Cross Country Championships were held in atrocious weather conditions at Northcliffe Playing Fields in January.

Rebecca Robertshaw, Amy George, Sarah Robinson and Georgina Worger displayed guts and determination to bring the Year 7 girls team home in 2nd place, with Ilkley GS taking the honours and the Girls GS in 3rd.

Not to be outdone, the junior girls team followed suit with 2nd team place through Jessica Mayho, Arianna Zenti, Savannah Kemplay and Emily Peacock.

Steph Heaton ploughed through the mud to gain a very creditable 6th place in the Intermediate Girls Race.

The West Yorkshire Schools Cross Country Championships were held at Batley GS in February.  Jessica and Arianna had been selected to represent Bradford and gained 13th and 24th places respectively in a race won by the Bradford team.
